Introducing Mementix

“There’s got to be a better way.”

That’s exactly what most entrepreneurs say when they find a problem that is worth solving.

In the case of Mementix, we knew there had to be a better way to capture all the memories from the concerts and sporting events that we attended. Since we were young kids, the three of us co-founders (Evan, Ryan and myself) saved ticket stubs from games and concerts. We’d open up our tucked away shoebox or scrapbook and relive those great memories. But now tickets are digital and in many cases there’s not even a digital ticket, just a mobile app that gets you into an event.

The Mementix Mobile App Was Born

That was the brainchild of the initial Mementix concept... let’s create a mobile app that makes it easy to capture, save and share virtual tickets from any event we attend. But that was just the beginning of our product and startup journey. The mobile app we’re launching will do that and a lot more.

The Product Journey

I’ve led marketing and product management for a bunch of successful companies (5 of my companies have actually been acquired by larger companies) and one of the keys to business success is having a clear problem and clear solution defined. I think we’ve done that for multiple problems. Here’s how our thinking, problems and solutions evolved this year as we designed version 1 of the Mementix app.

Problem 1: Lost memories - person has no ticket stubs to save.

Solution: Create a mobile app to save digital tickets. And do this by either uploading digital tickets, emailing confirmations or creating your own digital tickets for events. Mementix was born.

We wanted to make it super easy too. For example, we’ve got a feature where you can just forward your TicketMaster eMail confirmation to a Mementix email address and the digital ticket stub is automatically created and saved to your profile. We also realized the ticket was not the only memory. There were tons of great pictures taken. The solution needed to include a way to save some of the pictures and videos from the event as well.

Problem 2: Missed events - person didn’t know about local events including ones their friends went to

Solution: Enable Mementix users to see their friends upcoming event tickets

Once we started saving friends' tickets, we realized it would be cool to enable friends to see each other's tickets. Both for upcoming events and past events. So we made the app social. We added the ability to search for upcoming events friends are going to. The “friends’ ticket search” feature was born.

Problem 3: Poor event planning - lack of communication and coordination between everyone attending an upcoming event together

Solution: Once friends start using the Mementix app for events, we thought it would be great to enable the users to also use the app to collaborate with each other.

So we added a private group chat feature organized by events. We also wanted to make it easy to track who was going and who was out. And we wanted a way to capture all the logistics… directions, pre-game plans, etc. The Mementix EventSpace was born! … a centralized place for friends to track all the details about an event…including an attending status flag for each friend invited: “In” , “Out” and “Maybe”. Heck, we even added a feature for the person who bought the tickets to assign them to specific people going. It would be nice to see who was using what ticket.

Problem 4: Lost pictures and videos - no easy way to share each others’ media

Solution: Enable users to upload their pictures and videos for sharing into Mementix and make it easy to organize, share and search.

Since we already had a way to organize tickets and events, we made it easy to upload pictures and videos and keep them organized by event name, date, and location. We know people use Apple’s shared photo albums for this sometimes, but we’ve made it super easy to do in Mementix, and you don’t have to be an Apple user.

Problem 5: Scattered event information, messages, pictures and tickets

Solution: A single mobile app to centralize and organize everything related to a live event in one place.

We know people are tired of scrolling through hundreds of texts, DMs and eMails to find the details about an upcoming event. They’re often tired of searching for lost pictures and videos from past events or not having the pictures friends took. So we designed Mementix EventSpaces to make it easy to add media to. You can organize all your event logistics, ticket details, pictures, videos and group chats all in one convenient place… in a private Mementix EventSpace, shared and seen by invited friends only.

Memories + Tickets = Mementix

The Mementix app has something for everyone who goes to live events with friends and family. We know it’s a better way to rally friends, get plans in place, assign tickets, save ticket stubs and capture all the memories. We also know it’s a great way to relive all those amazing memories with your friends.
